If you and your furry friend are feeling a bit of cabin fever, head out to the Huntsville Botanical Garden and cut loose with the Dog Days of Winter, sponsored by Countryside Veterinary Hospital and The Pet Hospital of Madison.
During the festival, which runs until Feb. 29, you and your dog can explore the garden paths and scamper unfettered in the “No Leash Zone.” Your pooch can also check out the newest “Barkitecture”—dog houses built by the public on display throughout the HBG. Admission is free for members and children 2 and under. Adults will pay $12, children (3-18) $8, and seniors (55 and older) and military personnel $10. January and February brings a $2 winter discount.
A special treat awaits Fido and Fifi on Feb. 4 with the Bow Wow Bone-anza from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Vendors will show off their pet wares, trainers and their pups will demonstrate agility work, a photographer will be on hand to snap some doggie portraits, and of course, there will be a pooch parade. The Bow Wow Fun Run 5K and 1-mile Doggie Dash will also be part of the day’s activities.
A full schedule of events will be posted as the date draws nearer. Interested in showing off your pet products? Call 256-830-4447 ext. 241 or email Kay Curry for more information.
