What’s the best way to celebrate 200 years of statehood? With a celebration that lasts a full year of course! Cities and towns across the state of Louisiana are finalizing plans for their own versions of bicentennial celebrations set to take place in 2012 and Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana is no different.
Last week the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau along with the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana, unveiled their plans to commemorate the 200th anniversary of our statehood.
There are plenty of great events on the horizon that this Insider plans to cover in depth as the dates approach. For now though, I thought it was imperative to provide and overview of what’s on tap to allow visitors a chance to pencil in some dates on their calendars. Complete details for all of the events below can be found by clicking here.
Making the celebration even more exciting is the fact that several Lake Charles landmarks will also be celebrating their centennial in 2012.
