Live music complements great fall weather

We opened the windows this week and were greeted by delicious fall weather. When summer ends and autumn begins in the Deep South, we experience balmy summer-like weather by day and cool temperatures by night. It’s absolutely heavenly.

That’s why outdoor music events here are so popular. And prevalent.

In addition to Downtown Alive at the outdoor stages in downtown Lafayette, Rhythms on the River offers a fall season featuring live music by local musicians. The party happens from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday on the grounds of the Town Center of River Ranch, a traditional neighborhood development located in the heart of Lafayette.

River Ranch offers two town centers, one of which features a grassy center with gazebo, and that’s where the live music happens. In addition, there will be food concessions and several restaurants nearby to frequent.

And did we mention this is all free?

Sept. 30 — Marc Broussard (Bayou Soul)

Oct. 7 — Pine Leaf Boys (Cajun)

Oct. 14 — Louisiana Red (Variety 50’s, 60’s, Pop & Cajun)

Oct. 21 — 5th Avenue (Variety)

Oct. 28 — Nik-L-Beer (Variety)

Nov. 4 — GTO & the “D” Street Brass Band (Retro rock)

Nov. 11 — Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience (Zydeco)
