My mom, my daughter, and I enjoyed the downtown sights when we walked the Rudolph Run a couple of years ago.

The holiday season is full of the hustle and bustle of searching for the perfect gift for everyone on your list, preparing your home for visitors, baking, wrapping, attending parties. But don't forget to take care of yourself, too. How about a brisk run for a good cause?
The 6th annual Rudolph Run is coming up on Dec. 17, so dig out your antler headband and red nose and lace up your sneakers. Each year the Blount Hospitality House holds the 5K race and 1-mile fun run as a fundraiser. The facility, which opened in 1980, offers lodging and support for out-of-towners whose relatives are patients in local hospitals.
The course will take runners through decked-out downtown Huntsville and the Twickenham and Old Town Historic Districts. The 5K takes off from—where else?—Santa’s Village, 109 Gates Ave., at 8 a.m. with the fun run starting at 9:15am. You can download the registration form or register for the Rudolph Run online.
If you’re not into running, you can still come out and cheer on those who do want to take a lap around the city sidewalks. You can also donate to the Blount Hospitality House by mailing a check to 610 Madison Street, Huntsville, AL 35801. If you’d like more information on the organization, please call 256-534-7014.
Hurry, Santa’s on the way!
