Who says Huntsville never gets snow? At Santa's Village, 109 Gates Avenue, the white stuff falls every 20 minutes. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, head inside and let the wonderment begin.
Kids can make "cookies" and hear Mrs. Claus read a story. The local blacksmith stokes his fire and shows visitors how to make nails used to repair Santa's sleigh. Elves help kids map out Santa’s worldwide delivery route, a fun and educational lesson. They can create crafts in the Toymaker's Workshop and take a spin around the dance floor at the Holiday Ball. And if they need to burn off a little more excitement, they can work their way through the Icicle Maze.
What’s a visit to Santa’s Village without meeting the big man himself? If they look closely on the table next to Santa’s chair, they might just find their names on his Nice list. And who knows? Their gifts might be among the hundreds of beautifully wrapped boxes stashed around Santa and Mrs. Claus' home at the Village.
Other than Santa himself, his reindeer draw the most attention. The two antlered animals wander around their pen, grazing on hay and checking out the children they'll soon be delivering toys to.
If you need that last-minute gift, Santa's Village shop offers ornaments, coffee mugs and other goodies for sale. You can even buy light-up Rudolph noses.
Santa's Village is open through December 23. Admission to the village is $20 per family (up to five people). For more information, call 256-564-8100 or visit earlyworks.com.
