As of late, Miami has caught the brew fever. Bars and restaurants selling microbrews have been popping up all around town. One hotspot is The Democratic Republic of Beer, also known as DRB.
Tucked in a corner just off of N.E. 2nd Avenue and right across from the Adrienne Arsht Center, the bar/restaurant serves over 40 dishes (anything from pot stickers to a steak sandwich) and over 500 beers (think 33 Export from Vietnam, Kalik from the Bahamas and Imperial from Costa Rica) from around the world both listed by country on the menu. It also serves wine and, most recently, sake. So really, there’s something for everyone.
The space is homey (meaning small!) and is filled on weekend mostly by locals. On busy nights, you can expect to be socializing outside on the sidewalk. The music is rotation of classics and indie-anything. If you’re looking for Britney Spears, you’ve come to the wrong place. There aren’t too many options in Downtown Miami, especially late night. DRB is open until 5am, so go nuts!
