Ever wondered what Dr. Wernher von Braun was like? Well, now’s your chance to find out more about the man behind the rocket team. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is showcasing “100 Years of Von Braun: His American Journey” until May. The exhibit is in honor of his 100th birthday on March 23.
The show follows von Braun from his surrender to American forces in Germany during World War II through his death in 1977. In between, you’ll learn about his achievements with NASA, the Army, and in the private sector. Spacecraft models, photographs and artwork, and multimedia displays featuring the scientist’s speeches and interviews give you insight into the vision behind much of today’s space program.
But not only will you see the scientific side of von Braun, the exhibit also includes a look at his personal life—his hobbies, his family, his celebrity status, and his dreams for the future of exploration.
You can purchase tickets to the museum online or at the Space Center at One Tranquility Base in Huntsville. The exhibit is included in the price of admission. For more information, call 1-800-63-SPACE.
