Galleries in New Orleans' Arts District will be open, live bands will play on the street, and restaurant food and drinks will be sold at booths Saturday August 7 6-11 PM on Julia Street's 300-800 blocks for White Linen Night. An after-party will be held at the Contemporary Arts Center with DJ, dancing and drinks for sale from 9-11 PM. Suggested dress for guests is white linen, to beat the sultry heat.
An "Art Walk" is held the first Saturday of the month from June through December in the Arts District. Galleries are open late, holding artist receptions with wine and snacks. Galleries range from Heriard-Cimino for contemporary paintings, sculpture, photographty and installations, Jean Bragg Gallery for Louisiana landscape and style paintings and Newcomb pottery and crafts, Steve Martin Fine Art for contemporary fine art, contemporary crafts - ceramics, metal, wood, fiber, jewelry and furniture - at Ariodante and Louisiana Crafts Guild to history paintings at George Schmidt. Many restaurants and hotels are in or near the Arts District, including Renaissance Arts Hotel and its restaurant, La Cote Brasserie.
